“Air Pollution: A Health Hazard” – Capacity Building Workshop for Healthcare Professionals
Gorakhpur
November 13, 2025
GD Goenka Healthcare Academy, Gorakhpur

Dr. S.K. Lath, Eminent Pulmonologist and Chairperson of the Gorakhpur Forum for Clean Air (FFCA) addressed paramedical students at GD Goenka Healthcare Academy, Gorakhpur, during a special awareness session held on 13 November 2025.

In his address, Dr. Lath highlighted that the harmful effects of air pollution begin as early as the placental stage and continue throughout an individual’s lifespan. He explained how prolonged exposure to polluted air significantly increases the risk of COPD, lung cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, and other systemic health conditions. Referring to the recent implementation of GRAP-III in Delhi, he emphasized that deteriorating air quality across India must be recognized as a public health emergency, rather than merely an environmental issue.

Dr. Lath concluded by encouraging budding healthcare professionals to serve not only as caregivers but also as advocates for clean air, ensuring awareness reaches every household and community.
