A session on “Air Pollution and Health” was held during the 3rd AMACON 2025 on 16 November 2025 in collaboration with the Amritsar Medical Association, as part of the conference’s scientific program.
The session aimed to highlight air pollution as a major public health risk and to mobilize medical leaders to play an active role in clean air advocacy. The event witnessed participation from over 200 delegates, including doctors, specialists, and representatives of medical associations. Notably, more than 31 doctors expressed interest in future collaboration with Doctors for Clean Air and Climate Action (DFCA), reflecting strong engagement and alignment with the initiative’s objectives.
The session featured expert lectures by Dr. Arvind Kumar, Founder & Managing Trustee, LCF & DFCA, who emphasized air pollution as a silent public health emergency with deep links to cardiopulmonary and metabolic diseases. Dr. Salil Uppal discussed air pollution as a significant risk factor for stroke, while Dr. Prabhjit Singh highlighted its association with cognitive decline and neurocognitive harm. Together, the speakers underscored the widespread and multisystem health impacts of poor air quality.
As an outcome, the session strengthened the collective medical voice on environmental health and laid the groundwork for expanding the DFCA Punjab network, along with initiating further awareness and advocacy activities across the region.
