SHC Balkalan, SHC chhajjalwaddi, and SHC Wadala Johal

The Lung Care Foundation (LCF), in collaboration with trained Rural Medical Officers (RMOs), conducted air pollution awareness sessions for ASHA workers at Sub-Health Centers (SHCs) in Balkalan, Chhajjalwaddi, and Wadala Johal on March 20, 2025. Led by Dr. Rahul Arora, Dr. Ravinderjit Kaur, Dr. Raj Kumar, and Dr. Ravinder Pal, the training aimed to empower ASHA workers to educate rural communities about the health impacts of air pollution.

Participants learned about air quality monitoring, pollution-related health risks, and practical solutions to reduce exposure at household and community levels. Dr. Rahul Arora demonstrated the AQI monitor, helping ASHA workers understand how to assess local air quality.

This initiative enhanced awareness, enabling ASHA workers to integrate air pollution education into their community outreach programs, especially for women and children. Moving forward, RMOs will continue training sessions, strengthening collaboration between health departments, local authorities, and environmental experts.

By leveraging grassroots healthcare providers, this initiative ensures sustained knowledge dissemination, creating a ripple effect of informed action towards cleaner air and improved public health in rural Amritsar.
