An Awareness and Training Session on Air Pollution and Health was organized by the Ludhiana Forum for Clean Air at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana, on 16 October 2025. The primary objective of the session was to enhance awareness about air pollution and its serious health implications, while actively engaging young medical and healthcare students as future advocates for clean air, climate action, and public health protection.
The event witnessed the participation of more than 250 medical, nursing, and technical students, reflecting strong interest from the healthcare community. Distinguished speakers and key stakeholders included Dr. Rajiv Khurana, Dr. Carmin Uppal, Dr. Sonali Vohra, Dr. GS Wander, Dr. Vivek Gupta, Dr. Kunalika, and Mr. Bipin Gupta, among others. Discussions focused on DFCA and Lung Care Foundation’s mission for clean air, air pollution as a growing public health crisis, and its association with non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, and asthma. The speakers also highlighted major pollution sources including stubble burning, vehicular emissions, and construction dust, and emphasized the important role of youth in climate and clean air action.
The session further highlighted DMC&H’s green campus initiative, including the plantation of over two lakh trees. Follow-up actions include promoting clean campus practices and encouraging student-led initiatives to sustain momentum toward clean air advocacy.
