A sensitization session on “Respiratory Health, Clean Air & Climate Action” was held on 24 December, 2025 at Sir Madanlal Institute of Pharmacy, Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, under the leadership of Naveen Pandey. The programme aimed to raise awareness among future healthcare professionals about the growing threat of air pollution and the need for collective action to safeguard public health.
Around 90 nursing and paramedical students participated in the session, gaining insights into air quality, the health impacts of air pollution, and the role of the health sector in clean air advocacy. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Surya Kant, Professor and Head, Department of Respiratory Medicine, KGMU, and National Core Committee Member, Doctors for Clean Air and Climate Action.
Dr. Surya Kant highlighted that air pollution affects the entire body, causing premature cellular aging and increasing the risk of diseases such as COPD, lung cancer, pneumonia, tuberculosis, cardiovascular, and neurological disorders. Emphasizing that clean air is a fundamental right, he encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles, reduce their carbon footprint, and actively promote clean air and climate action in their communities.
