District-Level Capacity Building Campaign of Health Professionals
Punjab
July 06-August 04, 2026
Jalandhar

The Jalandhar Forum for Clean Air (JFFCA) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) supported the initiative of LCF, conducted a district-wide capacity-building campaign across Jalandhar, Punjab, from July 6 to August 4, 2026. The programme covered 13 public health facilities, including District Hospital Jalandhar, two Sub-Divisional Hospitals, eight Community Health Centres (CHCs), and two Primary Health Centres (PHCs). A total of 313 healthcare professionals, including medical officers and frontline health workers, participated in the training.

The sessions focused on the health impacts of air pollution, particularly exposure to PM2.5 and PM10, and its links to asthma, COPD, cardiovascular diseases, and increased risks for maternal and elderly populations. IEC materials were also distributed to help healthcare providers include air pollution and air quality advisories in routine patient consultations.

The initiative strengthened the capacity of frontline healthcare workers to promote clean air, raise community awareness, and support preventive and climate-resilient healthcare practices.
