The Doctors’ Awareness Program on Air Pollution, held in collaboration with the District Administration, Amritsar, and the Doctors for Clean Air and Climate Action (DFCA) initiative of the Lung Care Foundation (LCF), aimed to empower medical professionals in addressing air pollution-related health issues. Over 60 Rural Medical Officers (RMOs) participated, pledging to become Clean Air Champions and advocate for public awareness.

Key speakers, including Dr. Shivani Sood, Dr. Harshvardhan Puri, and Dr. Carmin Uppal, highlighted the health risks of air pollution, its impact on cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and pregnancy outcomes, and available medical resources for patient education. Participants received lifetime certificates recognizing their commitment.

A remarkable improvement in awareness was recorded, with 98% of doctors feeling highly familiar with air pollution’s effects post-session. The event was rated highly, with average scores of 9.53/10 in knowledge, 9.51 in relevance, and 9.47 in engagement.

Moving forward, the program will expand through awareness campaigns, rural outreach, and policy collaborations. This session was a key step in strengthening health-led advocacy for clean air, ensuring better public health outcomes in Amritsar.
