The National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) Conference was held from March 11–13, 2025, in Gorakhpur, organized by World Resources Institute (WRI) India and the Municipal Corporation of Gorakhpur. With over 250 participants, including Dr. Rajiv Khurana and Naveen Pandey from Lung Care Foundation, the event focused on reducing air pollution and improving solid waste management. Key achievements included Gorakhpur’s recognition for improved air quality, the launch of the ‘Solar Cities’ plan by CM Yogi Adityanath, and discussions on banning open waste burning by 2027. WRI India played a vital role in guiding data-driven solutions and inviting experts nationwide. Challenges like vehicle maintenance, narrow lanes, and waste collection fees were addressed through strategic suggestions from city representatives. The conference set a strong roadmap for cleaner air, better waste management, and sustainable urban development in Uttar Pradesh.
