Open Waste Awareness Workshops were conducted across 10 Adarsh Wards in Gorakhpur to raise awareness about how open waste burning contributes to air pollution by releasing harmful smoke and toxic pollutants that negatively impact air quality and public health. The workshops aimed to encourage waste segregation, proper waste disposal through Nagar Nigam Gorakhpur, and inform residents and sanitation workers about penalties related to open waste burning. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with Nagar Nigam Gorakhpur and Samvedna Development Society.
A total of 308 participants attended, including 10 Parshads, 178 Safai Karamcharies, and 120 residents, along with Nagar Nigam officials, doctors, and paramedical staff.
Dr. SK Lath and Dr. RK Pandey highlighted the importance of clean air, tree plantation, and healthy lifestyle for better lung health. Parshads encouraged residents to avoid dumping and burning waste.
These workshops helped increase community awareness and responsibility. The initiative supports the goal of making Gorakhpur free from open waste burning and promoting a healthier environment for all.
