Under the Lucknow Forum for Clean Air, the “Vayu Mitra Campaign for Community Awareness and Participation to Combat Air Pollution” was organized to strengthen the network of healthcare professionals advocating for clean air and public health in India. The session was attended by 79 participants, including professors, doctors, senior residents, and junior residents, and focused on collaboration with government organizations, pollution control boards, NGOs, and professional bodies to promote awareness and sustainable solutions for air pollution.
Dr. Surya Kant highlighted that air pollution affects the entire body and increases the risk of diseases such as COPD, lung cancer, pneumonia, tuberculosis, cardiovascular, and neurological disorders. He encouraged healthcare professionals to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles, reduce carbon footprints, and become “Vayu Mitras” to spread awareness about clean air. The campaign successfully strengthened the collective health voice for cleaner air and healthier communities in India.
